Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Double Canyon Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon offers textural dimension, power, and
intensity. From fragrant notes of strawberries, boysenberries, earth and toasted woods to
richly layered flavors of cherries, currants and anise, this wine demonstrates vibrancy and a
long, lifted finish along with firm tannins that will allow it to mature gracefully for years to
come.

The Estate
In our quest to produce terroir-centric Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington’s best
appellations, we looked to Red Mountain, a small AVA located at the eastern edge of
Yakima Valley, directly adjacent to our winery. Warmer than both Walla Walla Valley and
Horse Heaven Hills, Red Mountain benefits from heat, low rainfall, and sandy loam and
gravel soils that produce highly concentrated fruit. These conditions result in smaller berries
and higher tannin presence, which is why Red Mountain wines are renowned for their
powerful, robust nature.
Vintage
Several different lots of Cabernet were selected for our 2016 Double Canyon Red
Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, including fruit from Quintessence Vineyard’s Block 51
and the renowned Klipsun Vineyard. Both lots of fruit consistently demonstrate power
and opulence, and the 2016 vintage was no exception. A warm growing season and long,
staggered harvest resulted in excellent fruit quality and wines optimally balanced by
moderate alcohol levels and high natural acidity.
